Most of the time cosmology definition will differ from one person to another depending on their line of thinking. Cosmology can be grouped into two main groups. People have been divided in their definition of cosmology and there are so many theories that determine the cosmology definition different people adopt. There are however two distinct arguments each with different theories regarding cosmology.

For some people, cosmology is a science. Cosmology definition to these people is the study of the dynamics of the universe. These dynamics will include the origin, the changes over time and what is expected to happen to the universe. Cosmology here is a science that helps people in understanding their universe better. There are two main arguments here and each tries to prove that it is actually the correct definition of cosmology.

One school of thought says that the universe is held together by gravitational pull where mass attracts each other to remain intact. This is the old school of thinking that was used to define the universe in the past

The big band theory suggests that a big bang resulted to the current universe. This happened after the earth got so heated up and expanded and this expansion has not stopped to date. The big bang theory can be regarded as the modern cosmology

To some other people, cosmology has a religious twist. Cosmology definition to these people has nothing to do with physics and matter forming on itself to create the universe. Definition of cosmology according to religion however is not the same. Different religions today have their own definition of cosmology. All these definitions have only one thing in common-they are based on religious believes. Below are some of these religions and their cosmology definition.

Biblical cosmology

According to the bible, heaven and earth were created by God who is all powerful and all knowing. The bible states that earth is round and surrounded by water. According to the bible, there is life after death. For those who did right during their time in earth, they will go to heaven and live happily there. Those who did wrong however will burn in hell eternally.

Hindu cosmology

According to the Hindu one universe is supposed to last for a definite number of years after which another universe emerges. The Hindu peg one cycle of existence trillions of years where several universes are in existence at any given time.

Jain cosmology

Cosmology definition here is in the shape of a man standing with his arms resting on his waist and with the legs spread out. The universe according to Jain cosmology is naturally occurring meaning that no one is credited to have created it and the universe is bound to remain forever.

Different definitions of cosmology are supported with very strong arguments which different people claim to be true. Whether physical or religious, different people have their right to their own opinion on what cosmology really means
